Chelsea desperate for January striker transfer

Yesterday was the perfect chance for Antonio Conte to rest players, at home against a weak Swansea side, and sure enough Eden Hazard and Cear Azpilicueta, two of the key players from the spine of the side, were left out.
There was one name that was more conspicuous by it’s presence: Alvaro Morata. The Spanish striker started once again, despite the fact that Conte had warned of burning him out in the pre-match press conference.
The reason for this is simple: there is nobody else. Even had Michy Batshuayi been fit, he’s hardly impressed as a reliable option up front this season, at least when starting games.
The Blues need someone up top who can ensure they have a fallback when Morata needs a rest, and it won’t do to wait until the summer. A body is needed in January, even if it’s just a veteran player to come and do a job for a while – like when Didier Drogba returned or when Samuel Eto’o came for a couple of seasons
